This melody is a Sweedish ballad and the text tells the sad story of Elvira Madigan (1867 - 1889). She was a Danish circus performer who fell in love with a Sweedish cavalery officer. The whole affair ended with him shooting both of them. The ballad is arranged for 2 violins, cello and double bass. The double bass part can be plyed by a cello 2 with some adjustments.
